Strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and South Africa in tourism
Vietnam and South Africa have great economic potential, especially in the tourism industry, which is worth exploiting. That’s why Luxury Travel Ltd will seize this opportunity and attend the WTM tourism fair of South Africa in Cape Town from 17 to 19 April 2015 (Booth F01).
Vietnam is the largest trading partner of South Africa and bilateral trade between the two countries has been booming in recent years. For information, Vietnam mainly exports footwear, garments, coffee, rice, gemstones, precious metals, wood, and timber products to South Africa while it imports steel, metal, chemicals, plastic materials, cotton, fiber, and fertilizers.
Now this cooperation will focus on tourism in 2015. Last year marked the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Africa and Vietnam. In this regard, the Embassy of South Africa and the Consulate General held seminars and exchanges between enterprises of the two countries to strengthen this relationship.
This year, the Embassy continues to promote Vietnam and its people through campaigns and conferences. At a conference on the promotion of tourism in Ho Chi Minh City on March 19, the Ambassador of South Africa in Vietnam Mr. Kgomotso Magau Ruth pointed out that the similarity between the culture, people, and history is a solid basis for the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The conference was an opportunity for companies in the travel industry in both countries to exchange information and reflect on ways and new developments to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism said the Ambassador.
The Vice-President of the Tourism Association of Ho Chi Minh City Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh said that last year Ho Chi Minh City received 4.4 million tourists. In addition, she said that the number of residents in the economic capital city having spent holidays abroad was high, representing 60-70% of visits abroad for the whole country.
